Bridal Preparation Tips

After shooting lots of weddings and seeing lots of Bridal Preparation rooms I’ve put together a few useful Bridal Preparation Tips for you think about.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

Don’t go mental, get an early night! Whether you sleep or not is a different story but you’ll need lots of energy to get through a wedding day. Give yourself the best chance and fill up on that beauty sleep!

EAT SOMETHING

Honestly, eat! One of my most important Bridal preparation tips! Today just isn’t the day to skip breakfast. You’ll most likely be plied with alcoholic refreshment throughout the morning and the glass will never go empty. I’ve seen lots of brides put 3 or 4 glasses of Prosecco away by 11am having eating nothing but a croissant. Most likely you’d never do that normally so don’t get caught out.

Carb it out.

HAVE FUN

It’s very easy to overthink and worry. Try to relax and trust the people you’ve paid, we’re full-time wedding suppliers! Weddings can go by so quickly and leave you in a blur so make time for yourself and enjoy the wedding morning, it’s a great part of the day. Try to create some sort of music playlist for the morning with your bridesmaids and fill it with songs that mean something to you all.

DECLUTTER

To keep your Bridal prep images looking beautiful and timeless, why not have a designated bridesmaid to keep mess in check, trust us you don’t want that plate with leftover food from earlier starring in your pics or any bright orange carrier bags photobombing.

WHAT TO WEAR WHEN YOU'RE GETTING READY

Some brides opt for robes, rompers or pj's for the entire bride squad - this makes an excellent bridesmaid gift. However it's not necessary to splurge on these if you are working on a budget. Make sure the clothes are comfortable and loose enough that it won't ruin your hair or makeup when you slip it off.

ORGANISE YOUR DETAILS AND ACCESSORIES

Make sure your dress, veil, wedding rings, jewellery, perfume, underwear, shoes, garter, and any other items you want captured are placed together in one spot. It will make it easier for you to find and it will also be a big help for us to photograph/film all these thought out details. Remember to remove all tags and stickers. Lastly, a pretty dress deserves a pretty hanger.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

Makeup is done by the window light, so try your best to keep that area clear and ready for the makeup artist to work her magic. Hair is usually done by the dressing table (if there is one in the area), so remove all clutter. Once again it all helps for prettier photos and video.

TAKE A MOMENT

You’re stood there looking beautiful, your dress perfect, your flowers amazing. All your best friends stood around you. One last glance in the mirror and………God, this is really happening, it suddenly gets very real. Take a moment and calm yourself, trust me, nothing is happening until you get there. You may be nervous of the walk down the aisle, petrified that you’ll get your vows mixed up. Don’t worry, so has everyone else in this position. By the time you’re married you’ll wish you could do it all again.

THE BIG REVEAL

The moment people see you in your dress for the first time is my favorite! Usually the dad moments gets me all choked up. We would like at least 20 minutes for the reveal moments, bridal portraits, photos with the bride squad and parents before we leave your room to go set up at the ceremony location.

YOU ARE NOW READY- ENJOY THE DAY
